Los mejores vinos de Argentina, según Stephen Tanzer

2002 Bodega Weinert Cavas de Weinert Gran Vino Mendoza

($29; malbec, cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Good full, deep red.
Redcurrant, plum, tobacco, leather and nutty oak on the somewhat rustic, distinctly Old World nose.
Pliant but dry-edged on the palate, with a firm acid spine to the flavors of plum, leather, tobacco leaf and fresh herbs.
Finishes with dusty, slightly drying tannins and decent length.
